Mexico: Hurricane Simon
Updated

Following the projected approach of Hurricane Simon towards the western states of Mexico, International SOS is advising clients in the region to activate hurricane-response plans ahead of the storm's expected landfall near Mazatlán, Sinaloa, on 15 October as a Category 2 hurricane.
Inbound travellers should defer non-essential travel to Jalisco, Nayarit and Sinaloa until at least 16 October. Heavy rainfall, flash flooding, landslides, storm surges, and disruption to transport and essential services are likely across the affected areas.
Individuals in areas along the hurricane's projected path should be prepared to evacuate at short notice or shelter in place for at least 72 hours with adequate supplies, including food, water and essential medications.
We are closely monitoring the situation and encourage clients to stay informed through our situational alerts, accessible via email, the International SOS Assistance App, or our Online Portal.
We do not hold information on specific flights or road closures. Contact the relevant airport, airline, transport provider or local authorities to reconfirm travel arrangements. In the event of disruption, your travel agent will be able to assist with alternative arrangements.
