The ASEAN Specialised Meteorological Centre (ASMC), has set the haze alert at Level 1, indicating the start of the dry season in South East Asia. From June to August 2023, there is an increase chance of below-normal rainfall predicted for most of the southern ASEAN region, with warmer than normal temperatures. These extended dry periods could elevate the chances of hotspots and haze situations in the southern ASEAN region.
