Client Story
Holistic Health and Wellbeing for Workforce in the Philippines
Updated

8 years ago we partnered with a global pharmaceutical organization to build an onsite wellness center to proactively strengthening its employee health and wellbeing initiatives for over 1,500 employees in the Philippines. Through these initiatives, our health and wellbeing experts engaged to design and deliver a medically led, holistic health and wellness program focused on workplace ergonomics, burnout prevention, sleep quality and sleep hygiene, and proper nutrition. The result was a workforce with improved energy, recovery, resilience, and sustained productivity.
A global pharmaceutical organization sought to further enhance employee health and wellbeing across its Philippine operations. Through continuous engagement through the onsite health and wellness center and the mobilization of annual employee health checks, several interrelated risk areas affecting performance and morale were identified:
Recognizing the interconnected nature of these issues, our experts engaged with the organization’s stakeholders to design and deliver a cohesive, preventive program that complemented existing initiatives and embedded practical health strategies into day-to-day work routines across diverse teams and shifts.
The program was grounded in evidence-based, medically governed workplace health solutions, delivered by qualified onsite healthcare professionals and tailored to the organization’s operational realities, workforce profile, and corporate culture.
Insights from the onsite wellness center and annual health checks highlighted several converging challenges:
Collectively, these risks extended beyond individual wellbeing, threatening workforce resilience, satisfaction, retention, and overall business performance.
Our experts delivered a holistic, medically supervised health and wellbeing program aligned with the organization’s priorities and designed as an integrated set of mutually reinforcing interventions:
Interactive, evidence-based workshops covering workplace ergonomics, burnout prevention, sleep quality and sleep hygiene, and proper nutrition. Sessions emphasized how physical strain, stress, sleep, and nutrition are interrelated drivers of energy, recovery, and performance. All sessions were facilitated by healthcare professionals and tailored to operational schedules and shift patterns.
Post-session advisory and targeted follow-ups by the on-site medical team, using combined insights from surveys and health checks to guide individualized coaching, self-care strategies, and referrals where appropriate. This included practical guidance on accessing and optimizing existing company benefits, such as:
Program delivery aligned with International SOS clinical governance and quality standards, ensuring consistency of care, trusted protocols, and seamless coordination with HR, HSE, and leadership stakeholders.
Employees reported greater confidence in their employer’s commitment to health and wellbeing and left sessions with practical, actionable strategies to reduce strain, manage stress, optimize sleep, and make better nutrition choices, backed by access to on‑site medical advice for early intervention.
I’ve been thinking about why I’ve felt so drained at work these past few months. The more I learn, the more I recognize the signs of burnout. To cope, I’ve been keeping myself busy and working out to manage stress, telling myself it might just be a hormonal dip that would pass. I’m grateful for this event as it helped me understand myself better and reminded me that feeling this way can be normal in a corporate setting. — HSE Lead, feedback on Burnout Prevention session
