In the current global context mental health has been a growing concern but the situation in Africa is even more worrying when considering the regional context.
In Africa, there is 1.4 mental health workers per 100,000, compared with a global average of 9.0. The region also has an average of 14 annual visits to mental health outpatient facilities per 100,000, compared with the global average of 1,051*.
