Overview
International SOS helped a media organisation protect their business travellers with on-the-ground health support during one of the world’s largest sporting tournaments in Qatar.
Problem
International SOS arranged for a nurse to be present with the large media broadcasting company to ensure that they received the highest standard of medical support for their workforce during the tournament. During one of the football matches, our on-site nurse was approached by an international assignee, a 59-year-old American male, who needed medical advice and an arrangement for a specialist review of his medical condition.
Solution
Our on-site nurse arranged an appointment on the same day and accompanied the patient to the hospital. The medical expenses were covered under the delegated authority to ensure a smooth payment process for the patient, which was pre-agreed with the client ahead of the event. We also ensured that the client was kept informed of the appointment and its outcome.
Impact
Having the knowledge of the local hospitals provided by the nurse, which the patient highly appreciated, and extensive research of medical facilities and their capabilities allowed us to provide the referral suited to the patient's medical condition on the first call. Having an on-site nurse available allowed our client to keep their employees safe and maintain their business operations during the World Sport Tournament in Qatar.
