Overview
International SOS assisted an international business traveller whose company had put in place Event Medical Support for employees on assignment during the World Sport Tournament in Qatar.
Problem
A 38-year-old female business traveller experienced a headache and felt weak while on an assignment for the the World Sport Tournament in Doha. Feeling unwell during the weekend, in a foreign country, during a busy tournament season and in an unfamiliar healthcare system, the patient decided to contact International SOS to seek a consultation with a doctor.
Solution
With the Event Medical Support Plan in place, our team of trained experts were able to arrange a quick appointment at one of the previously identified hospitals within close proximity to the patient. Due to the patient’s work engagements, International SOS provided instructions and informed the assignee’s employer of the medical outcome of the patient’s appointment and provided recommendations regarding return to work.
Impact
The patient was looked after during the medical consultation, and the outcome was positive. Through the Event Medical Support Plan that was shared before the event, the business traveller lost no time in attending the medical consultation at a nearby hospital. The employer was also assured that should any medical or security issue arise, their international assignees would receive a fast medical response and maintain a safe return to work.
