Building Confidence in Global Travel

“We want these trips to go ahead. The work we do is important for the local people, but we want to make sure our staff are safe.”
– Mark Chatterton, Security Manager, The King’s Trust International

A part of the King’s Trust Group, The King’s Trust International was launched in 2015 by His Majesty King Charles III to tackle youth unemployment on a global scale. Operating across around 20 countries, the organization has worked with over 50 partners to directly support more than 100,000 young people through targeted programs in education, skills training, and entrepreneurship.

The King’s Trust International sends teams across the globe to deliver life-changing programs. These trips often take place in regions where risks range from civil unrest to natural disasters. For Mark Chatterton, ensuring staff safety isn’t just a box to tick — it’s a critical part of enabling the organization’s mission.

Proactive Risk Management

Before any journey begins, Mark collaborates with International SOS to review itineraries in detail. Together, we assess political climates, weather patterns, and potential security threats. This process includes verifying accommodations, analysing local conditions, and creating contingency plans. The result? Every trip is backed by thorough preparation and clear duty of care.

“I come to International SOS with the trip planned, and we work through the itinerary together, looking at risks and the mitigations we need to put in place.”

When Plans Become Reality

During recent trips, two staff members became seriously ill while working overseas, far from familiar medical systems and support networks. In those critical moments, International SOS stepped in immediately, providing expert medical advice and coordinating care tailored to the local context. Their intervention ensured the right treatment reached the right people at the right time, preventing a situation that could have escalated into a medical emergency.

For Mark, these experiences underscore a vital truth: preparation is essential but having a trusted partner available 24/7 transforms uncertainty into confidence and keeps global missions moving forward safely.

“It’s only when you’ve got someone on the other side of the world who’s really not very well that this really comes into play.”

A Partnership That Delivers Confidence Through Strategic Collaboration

From hotel security checks to civil unrest alerts, behind every successful global program is a foundation of trust and security. International SOS provides The King’s Trust with critical intelligence and rapid response solutions, reducing uncertainty and safeguarding teams wherever they go. With this support, the organisation can deliver life-changing initiatives without compromise.

“International SOS is a responsive, dynamic organization that provides timely, high-quality service to individuals working in this field.”
