Evacuation of Tech Employees From Honduras to Mexico During the Pandemic

Overview

International SOS worked with two local security providers in Honduras to evacuate two employees of a tech company via ground transportation from San Pedro Sula to Tegucigalpa for an onward charter flight to Mexico.  

Problem

Two employees remained in Honduras when the government closed borders and commercial flights were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

Solution

The client called International SOS to identify a way out for its two employees. We contacted a security provider, who chartered a plane from Honduras to Mexico. The security provider confirmed two seats on the charter for the employees, but could not provide ground transportation from San Pedro Sula. We then contacted another security provider, who arranged secure transportation for the five-hour trip from San Pedro Sula to Tegucigalpa for the flight.

Impact

Two employees working in a high-risk location in Honduras were safely returned to their families thanks to the support of the extensive International SOS provider network.
