International SOS and Occu-Med Capabilities on new MOD-15 Medical Screening Assessment Required for Deployment

21 April 2020 ,  Trevose

International SOS through its partnership with Occu-Med, a nationally recognised leader in medical evaluations for employment, allows its clients centralised access to MOD-15, the recently updated minimum standards of fitness for United States Central Command (CENTCOM) deployment.

The new MOD-15 medical screening assessment required for Department of Defense uniformed service members, civilian personnel and contractors has some important changes as a result of the COVID-19 global pandemic. According to Occu-Med, the update from MOD-14 to MOD-15 restricts deployments to those younger than 65 for the duration of their assignment as well as other stringent requirements including assessment of the likelihood for increased risk due to pre-existing medical conditions. Further, during the COVID-19 pandemic, commanders have the discretion to make the requirements more restrictive if they feel their risk to the mission is too high.

Through its partnership with Occu-Med, International SOS offers a seamless process for those in need of medical screenings to continue the important work in the government sector. By leveraging its global footprint of clinics and vetted providers, government contractors also have the option of having these assessments done locally in theatre, which greatly reduces lost time and ensures business continuity.

Occu-Med, which has performed more than 100,000 deployment medical readiness evaluations since 2006, has been a trailblazer in the applicant-job assessment category since 1979 and its proprietary, applicant-job compatibility assessment considers medical, legal and job-demand aspects, assuring that candidates are authentically ready for placement or deployment. Employers planning to send employees overseas to work for the Department of Defense or Department of State need to know quickly if candidates meet the medical requirements needed to do the job. Occu-Med assures all requirements are met and all immunisations are up-to-date through its 15,000-site Medical Network.
