Inbound travel significantly restricted for most travellers.

Only citizens and those who meet certain criteria for exemption  may enter. Mandatory testing and quarantine in designated facilities may apply.

Health and security constraints to business operations are broadly similar to pre-COVID-19.

The medical systems are at similar operating levels to pre-COVID-19, and the authorities are able to respond to medical and security threats as before. BCP should include response for potential COVID-19 disruption as standard within existing operational planning and clear escalatory indicators.

RestrictionsInboundInternational travellers (except Tongan citizens, permanent residents and immediate family members) are required to self-quarantine at a COVID-19 free country before entering Tonga. They must undergo medical clearance within three days of arriving in Tonga.

Tongan citizens and emergency officials arriving in the country have to undergo a 14-day quarantine.

Internal / DomesticThe state of emergency and nationwide lockdown in Tonga have been extended until at least 20.00 on 5 July. The nightly curfew remains in place from 00.01 to 05.00.
Gatherings must not exceed 50 people at indoor venues and 100 people at outdoor venues unless for religious services or events organised by educational institutions. A distance of three to six feet (1-2 metres) from other people must still be maintained as part of the social distancing measures.
