COVID-19 information for North Macedonia

Dedicated COVID-19 website

Petty theft poses the main risk. Periodic social unrest may disrupt business travel in North Macedonia, but unrelated individuals are rarely targeted directly. The timings and venues of protests and strikes are usually announced beforehand in the media. However, other gatherings, especially those held in response to sensitive local disputes between the ethnic-Albanian and ethnic-Macedonian communities, can occur without warning and may be violent, posing incidental risks to bystanders. The north-western region is not well policed and organised criminal groups operate freely in the area.

This information is intended as a summary of the travel security environment; however, the risks can change at short notice during a crisis or evolving situation. Please check our travel security alerts to ensure you are informed of the most recent developments.
