Travel Tips for Travelling with Young Children
Parents travelling with young children should note the following:
- Children with pre-existing illnesses like febrile fits and asthma need to be well prior to travel. Have a checkup and parents must carry adequate medication.
- Prevent dehydration
- Bring adequate fluids, milk along
- Always ask from airline crews for water or juices for the child.
- Prevent ear pain
- Allow child to drink or suck on sweets or chew on gummies during take-off and landing
- Do not venture to places with extreme temperature, harsh environment or places with poor medical facilities.
- Bring along a good medical kit containing:
- Anti-fever medications (Panadol, Brufen) & thermometer
- Anti-histamine
- Diarrhoea medications
- Skin cream against insect bites and itch
- Medications for any pre-existing condition (e.g. asthma)
- Keep a close watch over your child to avoid accidents or falling into water.
