International SOS Namibia was founded in October 2001 when ‘Medical Rescue International’, which had been providing an emergency medical service to the citizens of Namibia since 1993, and ‘Aeromed’ operating since 1995, merged.
We have permanent bases in Windhoek, Swakopmund, Walvisbay, Tsumeb, Otjiwarongo, Kombat and Rosh Pinah and 49 staff; 38 of whom are medical professionals providing advance and basic life support.
International SOS Namibia operates a 24-hour medical emergency alarm center. The center always has medical qualified staff on duty and can activate Fire, Police and Ambulance services at any time, anywhere in Namibia.
We are the only doctor-based paramedical emergency evacuation provider in Namibia with 18 dedicated response vehicles and ambulances throughout Namibia.
Our air ambulances are based on an Advance Life support based Cessna 402C, Cessna 208C and Cessna Citation.
International SOS Namibia has a Ministry of Health licensed training center. We train an average of 120 Namibians per month, ranging from basic first aid to advanced life support courses.
In addition to medical assistance, we offer specialized products like road and legal assistance. We provide services to the government, multi-nationals and to individual travelers and expatriates
Our clients include: Medical Aid Funds: Namibia Health Plan, Nammed, Releigh International Insurance companies: Welwitschia and Inscon.
