Response to London Terrorist Attacks

08 July 2005

London

The International SOS London Alarm Centre set up crisis management operations on July 7, and responded to hundreds of calls from British and international clients seeking information and advice. Authorities have confirmed that four explosions occurred yesterday. Current casualty figures include 37 confirmed fatalities and up to 700 people injured. The number of fatalities is expected to rise.

A massive intelligence investigation is now under way to find those responsible for the bomb attacks. Yesterday, a group calling itself the ‘Secret Organisation of al-Qaeda in Europe’ claimed responsibility for the attack on an Islamic website. Home Secretary Charles Clarke said the claim is being taken seriously. While the situation in London has largely returned to normal following yesterday’s terrorist attacks, false alarms are resulting in some station closures and evacuations. London airports are operating as normal.
