International SOS (SOS) is evacuating a 30-year-old Indonesian national to Singapore tonight.
The Indonesian male sustained severe face and head injuries from the explosion outside the Australian Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia, on Thursday, 9 September.
The SOS air ambulance, a Trivera, which had arrived in Jakarta at 1805 hours will airlift the Indonesian man to Singapore for emergency medical treatment at the Singapore General Hospital. A doctor and a nurse will accompany the patient during the evacuation.
Earlier today, a five-year-old Australian girl who suffered critical abdominal injuries was also evacuated on the Trivera from Jakarta to Singapore. The air ambulance arrived in Singapore at approximately 1400 hours. A doctor and two nurses trained in providing paediatric intensive care accompanied her on the flight here. The patient was admitted to Mount Elizabeth Hospital for emergency treatment.
A 49-year-old Canadian national also arrived in Singapore at noon on a commercial flight arranged by SOS. The Canadian man suffered scalp and finger lacerations. He was treated at Mount Elizabeth Hospital and was subsequently discharged.
SOS has activated its medical, security and logistic resources in Jakarta and Singapore, which included senior medical staff, support aviation, travel personnel and the regional security team. SOS is providing 24-hour support to its clients through its Jakarta and Singapore alarm centres to ensure that members and anxious families receive immediate advice and assistance.
The International SOS Clinic in Cipete, Jakarta has also been treating and monitoring patients on the ground since the bomb blast occurred. In addition, a Crisis Management Team has been established in Jakarta and Singapore to co-ordinate SOS response and logistics for the bombing incident globally.
