International SOS assists victims of Hanoi bus crash17 May 2006Hanoi
International SOS has mobilized its resources in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Singapore, Tokyo, and Bangkok to assist victims of a bus accident in Hanoi. The bus accident occurred at approximately 7:40am (local time). Two private buses were involved in the accident and there were approximately forty Japanese business people onboard, who were corporate clients of International SOS.
Upon receiving the call for help, International SOS immediately formed a regional crisis management team comprising senior medical directors and logistics specialists. The role of the crisis management team is to develop a plan of action to ensure that all victims receive appropriate medical care and assistance. Medical staff at the International SOS clinic in Hanoi including a Japanese doctor, nurse, and customer service executive attended to the victims immediately. Thirty-five patients were seen at the Hanoi clinic, most of whom suffered minor injuries. A medical team including Japanese staff from Ho Chi Minh City arrived in Hanoi in the afternoon to provide additional support and assistance. |
