02 December 2010

Bengaluru

International SOS, the world's leading international healthcare, medical assistance and security services company today announced the opening of its Bengaluru office, making it their third operations centre in India after Delhi and Mumbai.

"The opening of our new Bengaluru office reflects our commitment to providing high quality medical and security services to the IT and financial sectors in the South India region. Bengaluru is a major economic and cultural hub and the fastest growing major metropolis in India and we are very pleased to have a physical presence in this vibrant city to support our rapidly growing business in India," said Philippe Huinck, International SOS’ Regional Managing Director for South and South East Asia.

“We have established a presence in India since 1998 and India is a key growth market for International SOS. We will continue to invest in client facing resources to ensure we are reaching out to our corporate customers in India, to support them in exercising their duty of care to their global workforce,” he added.

International SOS has more than 200 staff across India in its New Delhi and Mumbai offices, a 24-hour alarm centre and a global information centre. Key corporate clients that partner International SOS in Bengaluru for their employee health and security needs include IBM, Shell India and Wipro. Some of their other clients in India also includes Leighton India, Aditya Birla, Dr Reddy’s, Essar Oilfields Services, Cairn India, Laymeyer and ENI India.

Tanguy de Grenier de Lassagne, General Manager, International SOS India, commented: “As part of robust business continuity planning, there is an inherent need for companies to look at mitigating risks for their most important asset - its workforce, both within and outside India.  We believe in giving our clients an end to end solution and our expertise in identifying and assessing health and security risks through to recommending and implementing solutions to mitigate such risks would be very valuable to companies looking at managing their employees’ health and security proactively.”

In 2009, International SOS’ New Delhi alarm centre handled more than 150,000 calls, 38,000 cases and 100 medical transport cases. Its medical and operations team at its 24-hour alarm centre works with a comprehensive and credentialed nationwide network of medical and related service providers, to refer, admit and monitor patients in centres of medical excellence across the country.

Dr Vineet Datta, Medical Director, International SOS India, said: “Standards of healthcare vary dramatically across the country, as do hygiene and sanitation standards which can impact health and wellbeing. The spectrum of risk includes infections and communicable diseases, vehicular accidents, presence of counterfeit medications in the market, occupational hazards amongst others. Access to the largest nationwide medical service provider network in the country, with 24 hour medical advice and emergency assistance, up-to date medical & security alerts, as well as capability to assist in mass casualty incident, ensures preservation of human capital, the most important asset from the perspective of business continuity.”

He added: “We have successfully used our global network, local knowledge and expertise to provide international standard health and security services to our members. Our team of dedicated medical experts, well versed with the local healthcare system, supported by a team of operations, logistics and aviation experts, ensure our clients benefit from exceptional level of medical care.”
