International SOS marks 60,000 downloads of its travel assistance app at ASIS convention

Today International SOS marked a milestone in its effort to provide mobile assistance solutions for travelers by announcing that the company’s travel assistance application for members has achieved 60,000 downloads.

The announcement was made as International SOS participates in the 2012 ASIS Convention in Philadelphia, a gathering of security thought leaders. This app, and its adoption by thousands of business travelers in 128 countries over the last several months, exemplifies a continuing mobile technology trend in the corporate travel sphere.

“This app puts medical and security information directly in the hands of travelers and expatriates, which is important because thorough preparation is key to traveling safely,” said Tim Daniel, Group Executive Vice President, International SOS. “This technology gives travelers the peace of mind and confidence to go anywhere in the world and is a great way to stay informed of constantly changing conditions.”

As the only medical and travel security app integrated into a global assistance infrastructure, the app provides members with immediate access to location-specific alerts as they are issued by International SOS’ medical and security teams. Other features include:

• One-click dialing to the nearest International SOS Assistance Center for whenever they need help or advice;
• Medical and security guides that can be easily viewed on mobile devices with access to information on over 200 countries and 300 cities around the world;
• Instant access to the latest medical and security alerts for their current location from International SOS and Control Risks (with the capability to browse alerts for other locations);
• Welcome video in 10 languages: English, Simplified Chinese, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Russian and Spanish.

International SOS members can download the app by opening their Smartphone’s browser and going to app.internationalsos.com. The app is available on all iPhone, Android and Blackberry devices; a membership number is required for activation.
