Transair flight crash enroute to Misima Island, Milne Bay Province, Papua New Guinea

Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea

On the 31st of August, 2010 Transair confirmed that a flight from Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea to Misima Island, Milne Bay Province crashed on landing with reports indicating heavy weather and rain at the time of the accident.   The flight took off from Port Moresby and was reported overdue at 16:20 local PNG time.   Five passengers and crew were on board the scheduled domestic charter flight for Australian Reef Pilots.

It is with great sadness that we confirm that an employee of International SOS, was on board the Transair flight as a passenger and has perished in the accident.

Mr Michael Gardner, Regional Managing Director International SOS Australasia said: "At this very difficult time we are shocked and deeply saddened, our thoughts are with our colleagues' family and friends, as well as with the families of those impacted by the accident.
