Transair flight crash enroute to Misima Island, Milne Bay Province, Papua New Guinea01 September 2010Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea
On the 31st of August, 2010 Transair confirmed that a flight from Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea to Misima Island, Milne Bay Province crashed on landing with reports indicating heavy weather and rain at the time of the accident. The flight took off from Port Moresby and was reported overdue at 16:20 local PNG time. Five passengers and crew were on board the scheduled domestic charter flight for Australian Reef Pilots.
