International SOS’ and Control Risks’ joint response to the situation in Georgia11 August 2008London
International SOS’ and Control Risks’ joint travel security team continues to monitor and assess the risks to travelers and expatriates in Georgia. In response to the ongoing conflict over South Ossetia between Russia and Georgia, a joint Incident Management Team is on the ground in Tbilisi providing support to clients locally and making detailed preparations for evacuation operations should they become necessary. This team is supported by International SOS’ 24/7 Alarm Centers and the joint venture’s 24/7 Global Security Center in London. Our response will be reassessed in the event that the situation worsens. However, our current advice to clients remains that there is no need to evacuate their personnel for the time being, while ensuring that detailed contingency plans are in place.
Under a strategic alliance launched earlier this year, International SOS, the world’s leading integrated provider of medical assistance, international healthcare and security services and Control Risks, the world’s leading independent security and business risk consultancy, have joined forces to offer comprehensive travel security services to their clients.
