Five people have died from this previously unknown coronavirus. Another four people have been confirmed infected, but have survived, after suffering a very severe, pneumonia-like, chest infection. So far all infections occurred on the Arabian Peninsula (Jordan, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia). How these people were infected is unknown.

With death rate of over 50%, the international medical community is watching this situation very closely.  If this new coronavirus does have, or gains, the ability to spread easily from one person to another, it may cause a pandemic.
